Proudly preserving Australia's Screen and Sound heritage ScreenSound Australia, the National Screen and Sound Archive, is a Commonwealth Government organisation and one of Australia's premier cultural institutions. We collect and preserve Australia's moving images and sound recordings (including Blues Music). ScreenSound makes this collection available for all Australians to share through exhibitions, screenings, the ScreenSound Website, travelling shows, video and audio products, live presentations, education programs, and television and radio productions. For young and old, the door is opened to Australia's story in the 20th Century and into the new millennium. Given the enormous output of the sound and screen industries in Australia, it is impossible to collect everything. Items of enduring cultural significance and those which document Australia's creative achievements in the audiovisual media are given priority. The National Collection includes more than one million items. In addition to discs, films, videos, audio tapes, phonograph cylinders and wire recordings, the Collection includes supporting documents and artefacts, such as photographic stills, transparencies, posters, lobby cards, publicity, scripts, costumes, props, memorabilia and sound, video and film equipment. Too important to lose. Through cutting-edge research and preservation practices, ScreenSound Australia has become internationally recognised as a centre of excellence. Its new state of the art technical facilities and expertise in audiovisual preservation techniques have earned it widespread recognition. |

Just goes to show the amazing amount of talent and very useful information that is here in Australia. No you do not have to travel outside Australia to find out most information as it is right here on our doorstep. This site is packed with very good basic information about the workings of Electric Guitars, Guitar Amplifiers, Guitar Pickups, How to make Electronic Music, Guitar Chords, Midi Music, Synthesisers, Top 10 Band Tips (well worth following), and a little Science to round things off with. |

This is another fantastic Australian site that is literally overflowing with very helpful information on Fender type electric guitars, including how to correctly adjust your Stratocaster or Telecaster guitar so that the strings have the correct action - and why so! It also spells out how to adjust the pickups for optimum sound. (This adjusting of pickups is critical to the sound that your guitar makes; probably as important as the guitar itself!) Chris Kinman invents, manufactures and sells his Patented noise cancelling pickups right here in Australia (Brisbane). These pickups come in a range of models (and colours) to replace single coil type pickups found on Fender, G&L, Musicman and various other brands of Strat and Tele clones. His Website has a huge amount of information as well as easy-to-follow step-by-step comprehensive fitting instructions (wiring diagrams are included). |

Steve Ekblad's Free Audio Software Page and On-Line Audio Tools |
Don't be put off
by the name and long title. This Website not only carries an on-line
Loudspeaker/Box design calculator, but it also carries about 100 links to
other speaker box programs, computer analysis programs and virtually
everything audio that you can think of - on the back of your
PC.
(When you see the term "Thiele-Small", it actually refers to the very eminent Australian Engineer Neville Thiele - who was the Chief Engineer for the Australian Broadcast Commission for several years. His ingenuity revolutionised speaker design and unified enclosure design and every reputable speaker and or enclosure manufacturer uses the maths that he pioneered. Together with Professor Richard Small (Sydney University) they modified these theoretical equations to match real life Speakers/ Boxes. The main theatre in the Sydney Opera House is an early example of their excellent work.) |
